How to add a Resource Pack to your Minecraft Bedrock server
This guide will explain how to set up a resource pack as a server resource pack, this means that all players will be given the option to use the resource pack when they join the server.
Finding the resource pack you wish to use
Firstly, you'll need to find a resource pack which you wish to install on your server.
You can create your own resource pack or use the ones available that are shared on Minecraft sites such as Planet Minecraft
Once you have found the texture pack you wish to use, you can follow the steps below to set this up on your Minecraft Bedrock server.
- Once you have located the texture pack you wish to use, please download it to your computer.
- After downloading, double click the file and it will install itself to the Windows 10 Edition of Minecraft automatically.
- After installing, Windows 10 Edition of Minecraft should now be open. Click the 'Play' button on the main menu, then on the worlds tab hit Create New and Create New World. Choose the settings you'd prefer and then name your world. In the bottom left, click Resource Packs, and then expand the My Packs category. You should see the pack that we just installed, click Activate.
- Once you've clicked activate, you can see if it's applied to the world if it's under the Active category. Once done, click Create to create your world.
- Your world will now load, and you'll be loaded in with the resource pack enabled.
- Press scape and then click Save and Quit which will take you back to your worlds menu. You can now close your game as it's no longer required.
- On your server, head to your File Access tab. Navigate to the
\worlds\world
directory, this may be different if you generated a world with a different name.
- You will now need to navigate to where your Minecraft Windows 10 world file is located. Open your explorer window, and in the path bar copy and paste the below. Remember to change the username with your PC username:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds
- You can find which is your world folder by opening the folder and clicking on the
levelname
text file, which contains the name of your world save. In this example the world is calledPebbleHost World
- Once you have located the correct folder, select the
world_resource_packs
,world_resource_pack_history
files and theresource_packs
folder and drag them into your File Manager.
- On your File Manager, navigate back to the main directory and located the
resource_packs
folder. - On your PC, navigate back to main directory where your Minecraft Windows 10 is installed. You will see a folder called
resource_packs
which you will need to open. In there you will see the folder for the resource pack you created your world with. Drag this folder into your File Manager.
- Once everything has completed uploading, please give your server a restart which will apply the Resource Pack to the server.
- Now when players join, they will be given the option to download the Resource Pack or join without it.
