Inside of your server's files are many important options, such as the server.properties file which allows you to configure settings regarding your server, and the ability to upload any plugins or mods. In this article we will show two different ways to access your server files.

Accessing the File Manager

If you wish to access the files through our web-based file manager, this is simple!

Firstly, make sure you are logged into your PebbleHost Control Panel account. If you're not sure of the details please have a look at this article.
Click the "File Manager" option in the sidebar of your server

Whilst inside the file manager, there are a few handy tips and tricks to know:

To edit a file, if it is one of the supported file extensions, just click the file name and it will automatically open in the built-in file editor. Once you're done, just click Save to save the file back to your server. This also works for .log.gz files, you do not need to unzip them before opening them as the editor will do this automatically.

What are Dedicated IPs

A dedicated IP means you have the port 25565 meaning that when users join your server they do not need to add the port at the end. They just have to connect with 123.123.123.123 rather than 123.123.123.123:25585, for example.

The Automatic Backups option gives you access to those backups for however many days you choose. Additionally, Extreme servers also have an automatic backup taken at midday every day.</p> <p>For example, if you choose the 7 Days of Automatic Backups plan, that means you can access the last 7 days of backups and request either a direct restore of the backup to your service, or a download link to the files in the backup.</p> <h1 id="manualbackups">Manual Backups</h1> <p>Manual backups are a feature we offer that allows you to manually create a backup for your server at any time. The utility scripts allow you to quickly perform actions on your server such as checking what's using your server's storage, or removing all Dynmap files. The full list can be found on the panel if you click the Utilities dropdown.

These are available for all servers, all you need to do is restart the server for this to apply.

Modpack Preinstalls

The Preinstalls are modpacks or server versions that can be easily installed with a few clicks. The full list can be found on the panel if you click the Preinstalls dropdown.

If you are on a Premium Service then you get full access to these and can use them whenever you want.

If you are not on a Premium service then you can get the Modpack add-on available here https://billing.pebblehost.com/cart.php?gid=addons and then you will have full access to the preinstall menu

Please also note that if a PreInstall for a modpack isn't listed but you still want it installed, you can get the add-on and open a ticket with us on our Billing Panel and provide a link. As long as the modpack has a server download, we will be able to install it for you.

How to connect a domain to your server

How to connect your server to a domain:

Before we start you will need a domain. You can purchase a domain from registrars such as Cloudflare, Namecheap or GoDaddy.

Visit your domain provider and locate the "Advanced DNS Zone". It may be called "DNS Zone" or "Advanced DNS", or anything similar.

Add an A record:

Set the Name/Subdomain/Host to the subdomain you wish to use (e.g. play or mc), or @ if you don't want to use a subdomain
Set the Value/IP Address/Points To to your server IP (without the port)

If your server has a Dedicated IP (has the port 25565) you can stop here.

Add an SRV Record:

|| Note: The following steps are NOT RECOMMENDED. It is recommended to purchase a Dedicated IP for only $4/month. SRV records are buggy and some registrars don't support them.

Set the target as the sub-domain you used above, including the main domain (e.g. play.example.com or mc.example.com), or to the main domain if you don't want to use a sub-domain (e.g. example.com)
Set the name to the sub-domain you used, for example play or mc, or @ if you don't want to use a sub-domain.
Set the protocol to '_tcp'
Set the service to '_minecraft'
Set the priority to 0
Set the weight to 0

Example SRV Record DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to update existing records, but new records usually show instantly.

How to directly join your Ark: SE server from Epic Games launcher

Thank you for choosing PebbleHost for your Ark Survival Evolved server! You'll need to follow a few steps to allow users to join your Ark server via the Epic Games launcher.

|| Mods are not supported on the Epic Games version so if you have any mods enabled your server will not be compatible with the Epic Games edition.

How to configure server for joining

Firstly, you will need to make sure there is no server password enabled on your server - an admin password is fine but the Epic Games version, at the time of writing this article, does not support joining Ark servers with server passwords directly.

Next, you will need to enable Crossplay in the dropdown, as seen below. This adds the -crossplay command line to your Ark server.

Finally, just reboot your Ark server to apply those changes!

How to join in-game

The epic games version does not yet have an easy way to join by IP so you will need to do the following to join your server:

Go to Host \ Local in the menu
Click on Play Single Player to go into a single-player game
In the single player game, hit Tab to go into the console.
Type open <server IP>:7777. You can find the server IP on the main page of the server on our gamepanel, but you need to change the 27015 port (which is the Steam port) to 7777 which is the direct gam
